The Beretta side-by-side line consists of two series: the Boxlock 424 series and the Sidelock 451 series, guns of prestige and high quality, finished and hand-en-graved by master craftsmen.

The modern and functional design of the action body of the 424 side-by-sides is Beretta's interpretation of the needs of a traditional sector of the market.

The exceptional strength of the action body is achieved by housing the firing mechanism (hammer springs and spring-guides) and the cocking rods in grooves machined out of the lower parts of the action body. This means that the bottom portion of the action body remains totally enclosed. There are no screws in the action body, only three simple pins; therefore dismantling the gun becomes extremely easy and does not require special tools. Its maintenance is simple and inexpensive.

In the 451 side-by-side series our ancient traditions of craftsmanship are coupled with the most up-to-date technology so as to produce real masterpieces born of choice materials and excellent design, and executed by highly qualified workers capaple of superb finishing and engraving.

The action is formed from a single forged steel block. It is hardened throughout, and made specifically to withstand the most powerful cartridges. All fitting and finishing on it is done by hand. An English-style double locking system works on the lumps; the locking bolt is operated by the top lever.

The locks are special Holland & Holland types, perfected by a Beretta patent: they have double safety le-vers. The lockplates are tooled from a single piece and house remarkably few parts, all made of alloy steel and themselves very simple to assure durability. They are hardened throughout and finished by hand to highly polished surfaces.

The barrels are made of Boeh-ler "Antinit Anticorro" steel. They are externally hand-finished to attain a constant wall thickness, which guarantees uniform expansion and optimal performance.

The non-ventilated rib is concave and soldered on by means of a low-temperature silver alloy. The hand checkering along the top of the rib eliminates light reflection.
The ejectors grip a large portion of the cartridge base.
The stock and for-end are of highest quality seasoned walnut. All work is done by hand.
The fitting of the stock to the action is perfectly executed.
The fore-end release is of the Anson rod type.
There is a selection of engraving motifs, including English-type light scroll etching, which are executed completely by hand and signed by the artist.

Considering the class of these shotguns and the fact that they are totally hand-made, special dimensions and finish can be supplied upon the client's request.
